Mark S. Wells has been working in the field since 1996 and provides both mental health and addiction/dependence psychotherapy, as well as sport and exercise psychological services. He is committed to helping individuals and athletes identify and express their authentic selves, which allow them to establish and sustain genuine and meaningful connections with others. Mark believes that as one becomes more aware of their unique thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and experiences, they are better able to focus and honor their own individuality and function within team settings in healthy ways.

Essential to his clinical approach, the therapeutic alliance is a collaborative effort used to support and challenge, as Mark and his clients work together to establish and progress towards personalized goals. He believes in utilizing various modalities, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Positive Psychology, and Systems Theory. Additionally, Mark uses education along with guided imagery and visualization paired with relaxation techniques to meet the unique needs of his clients.

Engaging in the therapeutic process allows each individual to take an empowering step toward a more manageable present and future. Clients will explore personal influences and create new methods to address life and sport’s dilemmas, while implementing positive strategies to strengthen their own personal internal resources.

Mark knows personal and professional growth can be challenging, painful and frustrating. Yet, through the course of discovery, learning, action, and accountability, Mark believes one can acquire new life/sport skills, let go of problematic patterns, and discover how to live more authentically.  Mark’s passion as a therapist is to help his clients identify new cognitive discoveries that can propel them towards the ideal behaviors that improve performance and bring balance, joy, and wellness into their lives.
